The rapid uptake of VoIP technology among Australian business has made it one of the region's leading centres for telecommuting.
A new report from AMI-Partners found that that due to the increased use of VoIP phone services, SMB's in the Asia Pacific region are able to cut employee travel costs as well as enhance communications. AMI-Partners research manager Gina Luk said the last couple of years have seen a sharp increase in mobility services in the region.
"This is occurring as SMB employees in the developed APAC region are traveling more and farther," Luk said. "Korea and Australia SMBs have a greater propensity for telecommuting, while Japan and Australia SMBs tend to be more mobile because of travel. This is evident even among firms across all employee segments."
