Eurobodalla Shire Council has approved the construction of a building in Batemans Bay to house a new Centrelink contact centre.
The building application came from Batemans Bay Soldiers Club, who will lease the building in the NSW South Coast town to Centrelink. Council development manager Lindsay Usher said in a submission that the three-storey building, expected to be completed next year, would house a Centrelink customer service centre employing 36 people, on the ground floor.
Usher said some 76 people would work in a contact centre on the first floor and around 121 in another part of the contact centre and ministerial work on the top floor.
